Jean Nelson

Jean E. McNutt Nelson, 92, Duluth, died on Wednesday August 17, 2016 in Solvay Hospice House.

She was born on March 29, 1924 in Two Harbors, MN. to John and Elsie McNutt.  Jean lived in Duluth for much of her growing up years. After marriage, she resided in Virginia, MN for many years while raising her family. Following her husband's death, she moved back to Duluth where she remained for the rest of her life. She was a vibrant and much loved resident of her apartment complex on Park Point, where she made numerous friends. She enjoyed playing the card game "bridge" and participated in other social activities as well. Jean also enjoyed visits with her daughters and their families.  She was active and healthy until close to the end of her life. Jean will be missed by many.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elsie McNutt, brother Robert, and husband Myron Nelson.

She is survived by four daughters; Linda (Jeff) of Brainerd, MN, Barbara (Rich) of Green Bay, WI, Nancy (Chuck) of Santa Fe, NM, and Susan (Rob) of Fountain Hills, AZ; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; siblings Richard (Patti) McNutt of Duluth, MN, and Marjorie (Gordon) Meyer of Palm Desert, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday August 24, 2016 from 10AM until the 11AM Funeral Service in Lakeside Presbyterian Church, 4430 McCulloch St. Duluth, MN 55804.  Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Solvay Hospice House.   Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home.  218-727-3555, 600 E. 2nd Street, Duluth, MN 55805.
