Jean Ovind

Jean Betty Ovind, 86, of Duluth, died, Sunday, May 13, 2012 in Chris Jensen Nursing Home. She was born on April 19, 1926 in Proctor, Minn. She married John Ovind on April 5, 1975 in Duluth. Jean was employed as a bookkeeper/accountant with the Walsh Company in Duluth for many years until she retired in 1975. She and John were snow birds living in Tucson, Ariz., for the winters and at the cabin in Minnesota. Jean was passionate about her family and the time she spent with them. Some of her hobbies included playing cards, working on crafts and gardening. She was a talker and loved spending time with neighbors, family and friends catching up on the latest news or events of the day. While in Duluth she was a member of Kenwood Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Mulvahill; her father, Oscar Iverson; her son, Allen Scott Carlson; her brother, William Bill Olson. Survivors include her spouse, John of Duluth; her son, Dell (Gean) Carlson of Duluth; her daughter, Cheryl (Ray Tovio) Carlson of Tucson, Ariz.; her grandchildren, Sara Bryki; Jacob Carlson; Mary Jean Carlson; Jessica Carlson; Jennifer Carlson; Samantha Carlson; her great grandchildren; her brother, Richard Olson; her sister, Barbara (George Bowman) Mozingo and her cousin, Evelyn Wagner.
