Jerry L. Murphy of Saginaw, 77, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 2, 2013.
He was born May 9, 1936 to Leonard and Ruth Murphy and was raised in the Graceville, Minn., area.
Jerry was united in marriage to Donna Prader in 1954. He was a jack of all trades, a talented and gifted man. He loved classic tractors and enjoyed the annual trip to Rollag. He also enjoyed the fishing and snowmobiling escapades. His deepest love was his family with grandchildren holding a special place in his heart.
Jerry served in the Minnesota National Guard.
He spent his early years farming and then worked as a tool and die maker, a welder, a mechanic, a truck driver, and was also a business man.
He was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Duluth and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his father and two sons.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Donna; daughters Roxanne (Steve) Martin and Kim Weegman (Bill); son Todd (Terri) Murphy; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his mother; one brother, two sisters; and numerous other family members.
VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 7, in St. Raphael Catholic Church, 5779 Seville Rd., where it will continue on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Duluth. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth, 727-3555.
