Joan A Lehmann Marshall passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 in Solvay House with her family by her side. She was born in Duluth on May 10, 1936 to Wallace and Helen Lehmann. Joans legacy will be in the lives she touched with her kindness, generosity, and the gracious way she concerned herself with the needs of others. Joans smile and love made each person in her life feel they were very special and she made an effort to stay connected with people who were in her life. Joans interests were diverse as she enjoyed traveling, painting, golf and rosemaling. Joan also thoroughly enjoyed family get togethers, time with her friends, her high school reunions, class functions, and her time spent with her very special sisters in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Beta Iota Chapter. Joan also loved going to movies, reading, playing cards and attending many community productions in the theater, symphony, and local athletic events. Joan was a gentle soul who touched the hearts of so many. She was preceded in death by her parents Helen (Orstad) and Wallace Lehmann; her sister-in-law Marilyn Marshall McAlpine; and last August, her dear husband Lyman Marshall Jr. She is survived by and will be deeply missed by her children, Thomas (Cathy), Scott (Darlene), Alan (Linda), Steven (Kathi), Beth and Michael; grandchildren, Jennifer, AJ, Kristy, Michael, Trevor, Elliott, Dustin, Corbin, Hailey, Mychala, and Jon; her two sisters, Lucille (Richard) Lachowski of Portland, Ore., and Helen Mae Mazie (Henry) Mercado of West Sacramento, Calif.; her sister-in-law, Laura Marshall (Joe) Pucci of Aurora Colo.; and brother-in-law, Dan McAlpine (Becky) of Minneapolis; several nieces and nephews along with many grand and great grand nieces and nephews and special cousins Bud (Jon) Orstad and Jan and Bill Nelson along with many special friends. VISITATION: 12 Noon Friday, March 23, 2012 until the 1 p.m. Celebration of Life in Lakeside Presbyterian Church. Direct memorials to either the American Cancer Society or the Salvation Army.
