Joanne Claire Marshall, age 65, of Duluth, died Friday, December 2, 2016. She was born in Duluth on May 30, 1951 to Clarice J. (Scanlon) and Raymond F. Marshall. She attended St. Anthony grade school and was a 1969 graduate of Cathedral High School. Joanne was recently retired from the U.S. Postal Service. During her postal career she worked in Duluth, Lacrosse, WI, and Knife River, MN, where she served as the Postmaster.
She also lived in Los Angeles, CA, after high school where she worked for Daily Variety magazine in Hollywood.
Joanne loved spending time with her family and friends. She had a sense of fun and adventure which led her to travel to many countries and to enjoy countless adventures and new experiences.
Since retiring Joanne had also enjoyed volunteering at the Benedictine Health Center, as well as community events such as Grandma’s Marathon, John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon, and Bentleyville “Tour of Lights”.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Mary Jeanne Marshall.
Joanne is survived by her brothers: Raymond E. “Rory” of Minneapolis, Richard J. (Sheryl), of Merced, CA, and their children: Richard, Jason and Raina; and Brian P. (Jan), of Mendota Heights, MN, and their children Laura and Patrick; and her great nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends: Friday, December 9, 2016 from 11:00 am until the 12 Noon memorial service at Dougherty Funeral Home. A private family burial will be at the Polish Catholic Cemetery.
