Jodi Marie Schafer of Hermantown, passed away unexpectedly on November 2, 2021 at the age of 57. She was born in Eveleth, MN on April 15, 1964, to James and Mary Lou Drobnick. Jodi was a proud member of the Bois Fort Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, Minnesota Chippewa Tribe. Jodi attended school in Proctor through the 10th grade and graduated from Hermantown High School. She always considered herself a Rail! Jodi is a graduate of the College of St. Scholastica with a degree in social work. Her career was dedicated to helping people including as a social worker, a hospital worker and a legal assistant.
Jodi was an avid Vikings fan and never missed a game. She had a life-long love of reading, cooking and visiting with family and friends. She prepared cherished family recipes on holidays keeping traditions alive for years after the early passing of her parents. She loved cooking for football games she enjoyed watching with friends. She dearly loved both family and friends. She is remembered by her dear friends as a forgiving person with a generous love and strength for everyone and an infectious laugh.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. She had a special place in her heart for her Grandma Anne (Ernston). She is survived by her daughter, Heather Anne Schafer; granddaughter, Taylor Nicole Cloutier Schafer; sister, Heidi A. Drobnick (Reid S. Raymond); nephews, James S. and William S. Raymond; and many other family members and good friends. She left us too soon
A mother, grandmother, sister, relative and wonderful friend, she will be greatly missed. Our hearts are broken. The family sincerely thanks Terry Seafolk for all of his kind support in recent years. Services will be on Monday November 8, 2021, beginning at 1pm with visitation, followed by a 2pm Funeral Service at Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E. 2nd Street, Duluth, MN 55805. Lunch to follow services. Interment Oneota Cemetery at a later date.
