John Abrahams

John Harris Abrahams, 51, of Duluth, died on Sunday August 18, 2013. He was born to Arthur and Bonita (Elton) Abrahams in Bloomington, MN. John graduated from Blake High School in 1981 and UMD in 1989. He was the aquatics director at the YMCA in Duluth. He met Lisa Berndt and they were married on Oct. 18, 1997 in Banff, Alberta Canada.

John and Lisa started a family and have two children Leah and Even. John was a stay at home Dad, he started a boat business and worked out of their home. His passion of the outdoors and water sports led him to meet many different people and places throughout his life. He loved spending time with his family camping, hiking and kayaking. John was all about the outdoors whether it be hunting with his dogs in the fall, kayak racing or just going for a hike in the woods. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and his many friends.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Berndt; their children, Leah and Even Abrahams; his parents, Art and Bonnie Abrahams of Bloomington, MN and his sister, Serene Abrahams (Tom Olberding) of Richfield, MN.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 21, 2013 in Leif Erickson Park on the shores of Lake Superior. A reception will follow the service at the Clearwater Grill looking over Lake Superior.

Memorials are preferred to the YMCA Mentor Duluth, 302 W. 1st Street, Duluth, MN 55802 in John's name.
