John Blanchard

John E. "Jack" Blanchard, 83, of Duluth, died Monday, January 11, 2016 at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born January 25, 1932 to Clyde and Annette Blanchard.
Jack worked as a bus driver for the DTA and as an accountant at US Steel. He was a passionate reader, history buff, and a life-long learner at University for Seniors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Jim; the mother of his children Maryann Christensen Habash; his wife Jane Micheau; his brother Fr. Kirby Blanchard; his step-children Ellen and Randy Micheau; and his son-in-law Ray Finlayson.
Jack is survived by his wife Edna (Abramowski Golen), his daughters Elizabeth Blanchard, Katherine Finlayson, Anne Evans, Lisa Guthmiller and Kristen Blanchard; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nine stepchildren.
Visitation: Family and friends may gather from 5-7 pm Friday, January 15th, with wake prayers at 6 pm, at Dougherty Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 325 E. Third St. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to WDSE Public Television or University for Seniors UMD. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E. Second St. Duluth, 727-3555.
