John Bernard Blix, 91 of Duluth, died peacefully in his home with family by his side on Thursday, February 13, 2014. He was born in Brookston, MN on May 7, 1922 to John A. and Katherine S. (Jamsa) Blix.
John was a US Army veteran of World War II, following his service to country he returned home and graduated from UMD with a degree in accounting. John was employed first with Erie Mining and ended his career with Hibbing Taconite.
John was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, where he was a reader at church. He was and avid golfer for many years and was involved with many senior golf events over the years. John cherished his grandchildren, even though he did not have any great grandchildren, he would refer to them as his GREAT grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Wayne.
Survivors include his spouse, Dorothy of 64 years; his children, John (Karen) of Maple Grove, MN; Laura (Randy) Hiti of Duluth; his grandchildren, Anne, Katherine, Jennifer, John and Rebecca; his brothers, Howard (Shirley), Franklin (LaVonne) and Roger (Carole) and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Saturday – February 15, 2014 from 10 am until the 11 am funeral service in the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, in Duluth, MN.
Military honors accorded by the Duluth Combined Honor Guard.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Superior, WI.
