John Franckowiak

January 20, 1920 — July 31, 2014

John Michael Franckowiak, 94, formerly of W Pioneer Rd. died Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Edgewood Vista with his family by his side.
John was born in Duluth to John E. and Frances Franckowiak. He met Margaret Trader and they were married on June 26, 1948.
John was an active member of St. Joseph's church in Gnesen.
He was a farmer and retired as an engineer from the Duluth School Board. After his retirement, he worked at the Gnesen Community Club Center.
John and Margaret enjoyed farming, gardening and dancing, but most of all spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances. Mother and father in law, Peter and Katherine Trader; siblings, Edward, Joseph, Samuel, Stanley and Adam Franckowiak, Elizabeth Marshall, Ida Lepak, Teckla Graczyk, Lucille Kriske and Mary Manaski, and his wife, Margaret.
John is survived by his daughters, Gloria (Paul) Kaneski and Cecelia (Ronald) Hegel; sons, Stephen (Karen) and Jeffrey Franckowiak;
Granddaughters, Melissa Franckowiak, Karly (Jeremy) Fritz, Lacey Franckowiak and Angela Beclar; great grandchildren, Ally Fritz, Chance, Maxwell and Sydney Beclar; sisters in law, Helen Franckowiak and Angie Hill; brothers in law, Walter (Jessie) Trader and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Edgewood Vista, with a special "thank you: to Essentia St. Mary's Hospice (Becca & Marie) for their loving care of John.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4pm to the 6pm Rosary in the Dougherty Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Monday from 10am to the 11am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Church Gnesen, 6110 Church Rd. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Memorials are preferred and may be directed to the American Heart Association, 130 W Superior St. # 630, Duluth, MN 55802.
