John Allen Heino 72, of Duluth, passed away peacefully at home, John was born Jan. 24, 1942, in Hibbing, MN to Toivo and Grace Heino.
John graduated from R.L. Downing High School in Keewatin, MN. During school he met the love of his life, Sharon; some years after High School they were married. John attended several colleges, achieving a Bachelors in Education and furthered his education by obtaining degrees in Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Speech Pathology, Learning Disabilities, and School Psychologist, and finally earning his Masters in Special Education, and Individualized Instruction. He was also a sixth degree black belt in Kenpo Karate and was a Second Lieutenant in the National Guard. John always enjoyed working with children, traveling with family, being with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid reader, enjoyed going to school, and followed the lord with his heart and soul.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
John is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; children, Michael (Heidi) Heino, and Kara (Eric) Wisocki; grandchildren, Kasey, Erin, Jamie, Kaitlyn, Hunter; sisters, Peggy Waldvogel, Nancy Provencher; numerous, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in John's name to The Wounded Warrior Project.
A Gathering of Family and friends will be from 4-7PM, Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, in the Dougherty Funeral Home.
