John S. Jedlicka, 84, of Duluth, passed away on Wednesday at Essentia Health, St. Mary’s Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born in Duluth to John and Theresa Jedlicka. John was a U.S. Army Reserve member, and a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Knight’s of Columbus at St. John’s. He retired from St. Louis County where he had worked as a carpenter. John enjoyed working with his hands and was a very talented woodworker. He enjoyed looking through picture albums and was an excellent storyteller. John had been in an avid fisherman and hunter in his younger years.
John was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sharon, son Steven McGirl, and a sister Anna Nelsen.
John is survived by his children Scott (Sonja) McGirl and Lisa (Scott) Hansen, grandchildren Shawn (Nicole) McGirl, Steven McGirl Jr., Noah, Uriah, Joshua, Sarah, and Jeremiah Hansen, brother Joe (Marcia) Jedlicka, sisters Theresa Landro, and Josephine (Larry) Derrig.
Visitation will be held on Friday June 7, 2024, from 10AM until the 11AM Memorial Mass in St. John’s Catholic Church, 4230 St. John’s Ave., Duluth, MN 55803. The burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Elmer, MN. Military Honors will be Accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, 215 Radio Dr Ste 100, Woodbury, MN 55125.
