John A. “Jack” Wolf, 91, of Duluth, died Monday November 11, 2019 in Essentia Health, St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born in Duluth on March 18, 1928 to August and Mary Wolf. Jack served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked for 51 years as an Engineer for the Northern Pacific Railroad and the Burlington Northern Railroad. Jack was a member of Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, the K of C, and the VFW. He enjoyed watching basketball, baseball, and football, especially the Minnesota Vikings whom he held season tickets for on the 50-yard line for many years. Jack loved his walks to Chester Bowl, his friends and his neighbors in the Chester Park neighborhood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife Mary June Wolf.
He is survived by his wife Valrae Caple Wolf, son John “Jay” (Francoise) Wolf, Val’s children Ann (John) Tobin, Jill (Eric) Bergquist, Wesley (Hilde) Caple, and Stacy (Kevin) Knaack, 13 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday November 17, 2019 from 2PM to 4PM with a 3:30PM Rosary Recitation in Dougherty Funeral Home. 600 E. 2nd St. Duluth, MN 55805. Visitation will continue Monday November 18, 2019 from 10AM until the 11AM Mass of Christian Burial in the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary. 2801 E. 4th St. Duluth, MN 55812. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Military Honors will be Accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard.
