Joseph Maisuk

December 16, 1930 — July 12, 2017

Joseph Rudolph Maisuk, 86, of Duluth, Minn. died Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital.  He was born Dec. 16, 1930 to Steve and Anna (Bochenek) Maisuk in Duluth.  Joe graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1949.  Joe served in the US Navy from 1952 – 1956 during the Korean War.  He worked for US Steel from 1950 – 1980 (Steelworkers Local 1028) and as a Longshoreman from 1959 – 1994 (Int’l Longshoremen’s Assoc. Local 1366).  He was a member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church and its Holy Innocents Adoration Chapel for many years.  He was preceded in death by his sisters Marie, Irene and Delores Maisuk, Sandra Fournier, Olga Saari and Ellen Plaisted, and brothers Fred and Raymond.  Joe will be greatly missed by his wife of nearly 57 years, Patricia, daughters Carol (John) Grund of North Branch and Sherri of Duluth, and four cats.  He is also survived by grandson Peter Grund, sister Dorothy Voss of Blaine, Minn; brother Alex of Duluth; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 from 9 AM until the 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church.  Burial will be at Polish Catholic Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard.  Memorials may be directed to the VFW, Post 137, 2024 W.
