Joseph Urie

Joseph P. Urie, 87, of Duluth, passed away on Saturday May 2, 2015. He was born on June 21, 1927 in Fergus Falls, MN to Joseph and Frances Urie. Joe married Romayne Lessard on May 12, 1948 in Duluth, MN. He was a Korean War Marine Veteran, and had attended St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Joe had worked at Daugherty Appliance in the office, the City of Duluth Motor Vehicle Department, and had been an Independent Agent with American Family Insurance. He loved time spent with his family and going fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jerry and Dale, and a sister Murn Merritt.

He is survived by his wife of almost 67 years Romayne, children Debby (Dave) Felske of Brainard, Michael (Debra) Urie of Duluth, and Cheri Urie Kramer of Coon Rapids, grandchildren Jennifer, Michael Jr., Benjamin, Brock, Chad, Cory, Bryanna, and Brandan, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held in Dougherty Funeral Home on Wednesday May 6, 2015 from 5PM to 7PM, and will continue on Thursday May 7, 2015 from 10AM until the 11Am Funeral Service in St. Lawrence Catholic Church 2404 Morris Thomas Road. Military Honors will be Accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard. Burial will be in Camp Ripley Cemetery. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home 600 E. 2nd Street, Duluth, MN 55805. 218-727-3555.
