Joyce Kurth Lee, 95 of Duluth, died Tuesday, Dec. 17 th at Chris Jensen Health Center. Joyce was born July 26, 1924 in St. Paul to Celia Kurth. She was raised in Eagle River, WI, graduating from Eagle River High School in 1940, going on to University Extension at Eagle River and Business college in Manitowoc, WI.
Joyce came to Duluth in 1957 and worked as a clerk/stenographer for 24 years at DMIR and worked for several different attorneys here in Duluth. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, West Duluth Moose, Cloquet Eagles club, where she sang “the Ritual” at the state convention and the Railway Businesswoman’s Association.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Celia Kurth.
Joyce is survived by her good friend, Mary (Gary) Lemon Bjorklund; daughter, Alison (Cecil) Roberts; granddaughter, Mercedes A. Gustafson and stepbrothers, Jerry (Pat) Eliason, Richard (Bernice) Eliason and Donald (Kathy) Eliason.
Visitation will be Friday starting at 1pm with services at 2pm in the Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E 2 nd St. Duluth, MN, (218) 727-3555.
