Juanita Mae Davis, 53, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, formerly of Duluth died Tuesday, September 9, 2014 in Idaho Falls after a short illness, with her family by her side. Juanita was born in Sauk Center, MN and raised in Duluth by Duane and Dorothy Barker. In her youth she performed with the Duluth Accordionaires and played concerts behind the Iron Curtain. She was a Duluth Marshall Graduate. Juanita married Leonard Davis in Duluth on August 17, 1991. They moved to Ohio where they lived together for 20 years. While in Ohio Juanita worked as a Commercial Real Estate Agent and Property Manager. In addition she worked for Franklin County Child Services, helping families adopt or foster children. She was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church where she proudly sang in the choir and played in the hand bell choir. Juanita was a board member for the Ohio Wildlife Center and Pilot Dogs. They moved to Idaho Falls in 2012 where she sang in the choir of Christ the King Catholic Church and was a board member for the Taut Phaws Park Zoo. Juanita enjoyed cooking, entertaining, volunteering and most of all, traveling overseas.
She was preceded in death by her father, Duane.
Juanita is survived by her husband, Leonard; son Joshua; her mother Dorothy Barker; uncle Donald Fedo and many friends. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Monday from 5-7pm in the Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 10am to the 11am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Church, 151W Linden St. Duluth, MN. Burial at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are preferred and may be directed to the Ohio Wildlife Center, 6131 Cook Rd. Powell, Ohio 43065. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth, MN, (218) 727-3555.
