Judith Marie Tarnowski Grant, 50, of Myrtle St. died Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Solvay Hospice House in her husband's arms. Judy was born March 22 1963 in Duluth to Raphael and Joan Tarnowski. She graduated from Duluth Central in 1981. Judy married Gordon Grant on May 26, 1990. She was the owner of the Duluth Heights Dairy Queen. Judy was a fun loving, kind, caring and generous person. She loved her Dairy Queen employees and customers, and they all loved Judy. Judy knew her regular customers not so much by name but mostly because she recognized them by their favorite treat.
The joy of her life was her companion and friend Tag, her dog. Tags always brighten her day by running to the door with a toy to greet her. Tag ALWAYS brought the most beautiful smile to her face.
Judy was very supportive of our city, county and state law enforcement and firefighters. She enjoyed the short conversation with them at the Dairy Queen window and always thanked them for protecting and keeping us safe.
Judy loved to travel and play golf.
She was preceded in death by her father, Raphael Tarnowski.
Judy is survived by her husband, Gordon; stepchildren, Marci Grant and Brandon Grant both of Plano, TX; granddaughter. Jordi Grant of Plano, TX; her aunt, Renette Amato of Duluth; her mother, Joan Tarnowski of Duluth; siblings, Tony (Lois) Tarnowski, Beth (Craig) Ahrens, Kathy (Russ) Buran, David (Mary) Tarnowski and Steve (Lisa) Tarnowski; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Friday from 5-7pm in the Dougherty Funeral Home. Services will be 11am Saturday at St. Joseph's Church, 6110 Church Rd. in Gnesen Twp, MN.
