Katherine Elwell

Katherine Ann Elwell  (Kat), 66, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 19, after a brief battle with cancer.  Katherine was born January 28, 1950, in Hibbing, MN and graduated from Hibbing High School in 1968.  She attended The School of Art and Design in St. Paul and worked as a graphic artist in Des Moines, before returning to Minneapolis, where she resided for more than 40 years.  Kat spent the past 15 months living at St. Ann’s Senior Residence in Duluth.

Kat was a talented artist and the life of the party in her youth.  She will surely be missed by her family and friends.

Kat is survived by her brothers Tom and Jim Elwell of Duluth, sister-in-laws Lynette and Jody, nieces Joanna Johnson of Park Rapids, MN, Julie Larson of St. Cloud, MN, Jacqui Elwell of San Francisco, Carmen Elwell of Madison, WI, Lauren Elwell of Springfield, OH and nephew Andy Elwell of Los Angeles.   Kat also had four great nephews: Isaiah, Jayden and Levi Larson and Samuel Johnson; and two great nieces Jasmine Eggen and Leila Larson.

Kat was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Margaret Melde, and parents Molly and Victor Elwell.

Family will have a private ceremony at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing this spring.
