Kathleen Dinkel

Kathleen Irene Dinkel, 82, of Duluth, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2016 at St. Eligius Health Center following health issues with heart and kidney disease.

Kathleen Irene, the daughter of Mary Bridgett (Raden) and William Robert Rooney, was born March 2, 1934 in Ladysmith, WI.  She married Frederick William Dinkel on February 13, 1962 in Duluth.

Kathleen was a former member of St. John’s Church, Woodland, and current member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Proctor, where she was an active member who enjoyed playing piano for services.  She was a homemaker and foster mother.

She loved playing her piano, listening to music on her Bose radio and playing cards with her best friend Rayanne Swanson.

Kathleen is survived by her 2 sons, William R. Carleton (Judy McPherson) of Rochester, Minn. and William F. (Joyce) Melchert-Dinkel of Faribault, Minn; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister Mary Anne Engels of Duluth; brother-in-law Leonard Nelson of Otsego, Minn; sister-in-law Agnes Dinkel of Duluth; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Fred, brothers-in-law William Engels and Francis Dinkel, and by her sister, Mary Ellen Nelson.

VISITATION:  3-5pm Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Dougherty Funeral Home.  Visitation continues on Monday, June 6th. from 10 AM until the 11AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose Catholic Church, 3 6th. Ave., Proctor.  Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Woodland.  Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth, 727-3555.
