Kathy Bakke

Kathy M. Bakke 73, of Duluth, died, Wednesday, Oct. 6th at St. Luke’s after a courageous battle with numerous issues, with her family by her side.  Kathy was born Jan. 1, 1948 in Duluth to Eino and Angeline “Angie” Hill.  She graduated from Duluth Central High School.  She met, Don Bakke, street racing on Superior St. and they were married on Dec. 16, 1967 in Duluth.  She was co-owner of Canal Park Pets with her sister-in-law and then she co-owned Zibell Dental Comp. here in Duluth with her husband Don.

Kathy enjoyed training German Shepherds, reading, playing cards, camping, especially in Hayward, traveling, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eino and Angie; sister, Priscilla Cofield and her brother, Emil Hill.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Don; daughter, Kimberly (Jason) Achman; son, Kevin (Barb) Bakke; grandchildren, Drew Taylor, Logan Bakke (Leah Kemp) and Kayla Achman; brother, Ted (Peggy) Hill; in laws, Mary Hill, Jerry (Lynn) Bakke and Bonita Nelson and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 14th from 5-7pm in the Dougherty Funeral Home, where visitation will continue Friday, Oct. 15th from 10am to the 11am Services.  Burial at Park Hill Cemetery.  Memorials are preferred and may be directed to Animal Allies, 4006 Airport Rd., Duluth, MN  55811.  Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E 2nd St. Duluth, MN, (218) 727-3555.  Please sign the on-line register book at, www.dfhduth.com.
