Katrine Anderson

July 1, 1941 — February 25, 2017

Katrine Larsen Anderson, 75, a long time resident of Duluth, died unexpectedly on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Diamond Willow in Proctor, Minnesota.

Katrine was born in Superior, Wisconsin, on July 1, 1941, and spent most of her life in Superior, graduating from Superior East High School in 1959.  She married her best friend, James Lee Anderson, on August 11, 1962, emotionally and financially supporting him as they moved throughout the country while Jim pursued his education and profession.

Katrine loved her family wholeheartedly, was extremely proud of her Danish heritage, and enjoyed her hobby as an avid amateur photographer. She is remembered as a generous, dedicated and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a devoted member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Duluth, sharing her time and talents through many volunteering and executive activities.  She was deeply involved in mission as a charter member of the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance team.  In the course of volunteering, mission work and responding to natural disasters, she impacted many lives in her church, local community, and across the country.  She especially enjoyed a decade of working in southern West Virginia with summer mission groups, connecting through the Colcord First Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Elizabeth Larsen of Superior. She is survived by her husband, James, of almost 55 years of marriage; three wonderful daughters – Kari Anderson-Carlquist (Dale), Lee Anderson and Elizabeth Baczkiewicz (Tim); five grandchildren, Gideon, Amber, Will, Sam and Max; her brother Charles (Janet) Larsen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Katrine’s family would like to thank the Diamond Willow staff for their devoted and compassionate care over the past twenty one months. They also deeply appreciate all the support from friends and family throughout the country.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, to Lakeside Presbyterian Church (4430 McCulloch Street, Duluth, MN 55804) and the Alzheimer’s Association (525 S. Lake Avenue Suite 214, Duluth, MN 55804) are preferred.

A service celebrating Katrine’s life will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 11:00 am at Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Duluth. Visitation will start at 10:00 am.

Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth, 727-3555.
