Kenneth R. Anderson, Saginaw, formerly of Duluth, passed away October 16th with his soul mate by his side. Ken was born to Ray and Lois Anderson on May 8, 1947 in Duluth, Minnesota. He attended area schools and UMD. As a young man Ken earned Eagle Scout ranking, learned to play drums, and enjoyed the outdoors and music his entire life. He joined the Naval Reserve and served two years in Vietnam. Ken worked in the dairy industry as an account manager for Franklin Foods the final thirty years of his career. He married Judy Torgerson in 1973 and together raised a family while enjoying his music with West Wind band, fishing Canada and Alaska, golf and travel. The past thirteen years he battled multiple myeloma, kidney transplant and congestive heart failure with a positive, winning attitude. He was affectionately referred to as the "Energizer Bunny" or "Six Million Dollar Man."
Ken was a man of integrity and will be sadly grieved by his wife Judy, son Darren of St. Paul, daughter Amy Kakish of Dubai, UAE (Husam) and granddaughters Yasmeen and Timera Kakish. Extended family and a multitude of friends will miss his kind and supportive nature, humor and calming influence. We know Ken is now pain free and a new drummer in a heavenly band singing "Old Time Rock and Roll" to his heart’s content!
The family would like to thank Duluth Kidney Services, St. Luke's and Fairview University physicians for their dedication to his care. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 5454 Miller trunk Highway, Hermantown, MN 55811, Friday October 21st; 1 pm visitation and 2 pm service followed by dessert bar in Ken's honor.
