Kenneth Hopponen

Kenneth T. Hopponen, 85 of Hermantown, died Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Edgewood Vista. Ken was born July 25, 1933 in Duluth to Theodore and Ina Hopponen.  He was a graduate of Duluth Central High School and DBU with a focus on business and accounting.    Ken served in the US Army in Germany during the Korean War. He was a fireman/engineer at Burlington Northern RR; an accountant with US Steel for 22 years and Billman’s for 12 years. He had a knack for professional sports and numbers, working with his hands, and actively enjoyed outdoor activities with his family and friends, such as camping, BBQs, archery, hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Patricia and children, Jeff and Kim. Ken is survived by his son, Jody (spouse: Helga) Hopponen and Jenine Garrison (spouse: Lynn Geil); grandchildren, Eann Garrison and Neil Hopponen.

Funeral will be on Saturday, 30 March and visitation will begin at 12 noon, with services at 1pm in the Dougherty Funeral home, 600 E 2 ^nd St. Duluth, MN, (218) 727-3555.
