Kristen J. “Kris” Hocevar Olson

Kristen J. “Kris” Hocevar Olson, 58, of Duluth, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2019 at the Solvay Hospice House surrounded by her family. Kris was born on June 14, 1960 in Minneapolis to Ronald and Judi Hocevar. The family moved to Virginia, MN in the early 1960’s. Kris graduated from Eveleth High School and attended the College of St. Scholastica. She married Gary Olson in Duluth on August 14, 2006 and they enjoyed over 18 years together, rarely apart. Kris had a good life, spending summers with the family at Lake Vermillion, waterskiing, swimming and exploring the woods. Winters were spent snowmobiling and skiing. She has always known love, always been warm and never hungry.  She hopes she is leaving behind at least as much love as she received.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Judi. She is survived by her husband, Gary; her father, Ronald (Tina) of Virginia, MN; a brother, Ron (Marcia) Hocevar of Prior Lake, MN and their children, Bella and Dominic Hocevar; two sisters, Lezli Hocevar of Eden Prairie, MN and her children, Jesse and Julean Gale; and Ronda Hocevar of Minnetonka, MN and her children, Rachel and Stephen Kindt and Adrianna Lorenson. Visitation 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. Celebration of Life service Saturday, March 23, 2019 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. 1710 East Superior St. Rev Bill Van Oss officiating.
