Leif Marius Arntsen

Leif Marius Arntsen, age 98, of Duluth, MN passed away peacefully January 30, 2025 at Ecumen Lakeshore. Leif was born near Oslo, Norway and was a proud Norwegian who immigrated to the United States in 1956. He loved his family and enjoyed traveling, skiing, hiking and being outdoors. He met his wife Sally (Strand) in Cloquet, MN. They were dedicated owners of the Norwegian & Swedish Import gift shop in Duluth for 25 years. They retired to Grand Marais, MN to enjoy its natural beauty. 

Leif is preceded in death by his parents and numerous siblings and other family members in Norway and Sweden, as well as numerous cousins and family members in the U.S, some of whom sponsored his immigration. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Sally; Children Karin (Doug), Lisa (Chris), Erik (Alyssa); grandchildren, Mitchel, Matthew, Grady, Riley, Emma, Anna, Ella; great-grandchildren, Orrin, Finley; sister Margot and many cousins, nieces, nephews and family in Norway and Sweden; and numerous friends.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the caregivers and volunteers at Ecumen Lakeshore, Duluth, MN. Memorials are preferred to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, PO Box 638, Grand Marais, MN 55604. A celebration of life reception is being planned for this summer at Ecumen Lakeshore.
