Lester (Bud) Holt, 98, of Duluth, MN, passed away peacefully at home on June 11, 2023.
Lester was born In Sioux City, Iowa to Lester and Edna Holt. After graduating from Leeds High School he served in the Army Air Force (AAF) during WWII as a heavy equipment mechanic stationed in the Azores. After he returned home he worked as a milk hauler for CO-OP and Mid-America Dairymen until he retired. He married the love of his life, Virginia, in 1951, they were blessed with two children.
Lester was a quiet, hardworking man. He had a love for gardening and along with his wife turned their backyard into a beautiful vegetable garden. Fresh tomatoes right off the vine, with a little salt and pepper, were one of his favorite. Another love was that of the lake cabin. He would take the family to “the lake” as often as possible, while there fishing was his favorite activity. After retirement they became snow birds traveling between the lake and Tucson. His greatest joy in life was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He touched many lives along the way and was loved by all.
Lester was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Doris, Mildred, Shirley, John, Gene, and Donald. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Virginia, sister, Phyllis, daughter Sandra (Luke) Meints and son, Mike (Tara); 5 grandchildren, Amanda (Andrew), Conrad (Anna), Sarah, Julianna and Isabella; 4 great-grandchildren, Brayden, Willow, Brynlee and Ila.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023 at Family of God Lutheran Church, 4097 Martin Rd, Duluth, MN. Visitation begins at 12:30, service at 1:30. Coffee to follow in fellowship hall.
