Lloyd Alfred Ethier, 96, of Duluth, passed away peacefully with family by his side Saturday, November 21, 2020. Lloyd was born in Duluth to Alfred and Mary Ethier on May 23, 1924.
Lloyd graduated in 1943 from Morgan Park High School. He started working for US Steel Duluth Works in the Open Hearth at age 17, and continued working for US Steel in Chicago, IL and Youngstown, OH, retiring in 1977. He then worked for Midwest Energy Resources in Superior, WI as a supervisor from 1977 until 1991 when he retired. After retirement, he volunteered with the Duluth Police Reserve.
Lloyd enjoyed fishing, traveling, hunting, most importantly spending time with family and friends.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ann MacFarlane; brother, Eugene; and son-in-law, Bill Holtz.
He is survived by loving wife, Jane; children, Teresa Holtz, Lloyd Ethier, Yvonne (Paul) Kalin, Michelle (Marshall) Ihfe; grandchildren, Christopher, Emily, Anna, Olivia, Ian, Michaela, Meghan, Jacob; brothers-in-law, David (Diane) Michalski and Willard (Deb) Michalski; sister-in-law, Diane Ethier Gerson, FL; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The family would like to thank the 3rd floor nurses and staff at Superior Rehabilitation for their compassionate care of Lloyd.
A private family service will be held at 11AM, Saturday, November 28, 2020, the service will be live streamed on the Dougherty Funeral Home Facebook page.
