Lois Johnson

Lois Faye Johnson, 64 of Duluth, died unexpectedly of natural causes on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013 in her home. She was born June 23, 1949 in Duluth, MN to Harold and Shirley Ecklund.

Lois was a longtime hairdresser and cosmetologist in the Duluth area, working at various salons and local funeral homes over the years. She loved what she did and the people she met. She also found great pleasure in her ability and willingness serve the families of the deceased.

Lois loved spending time with her family and friends and could light up a room with her laugh and smile. She was a kind, compassionate and warm hearted person. She was very devoted to the care of her daughter, Tammy, for many years, and loved being a mother. She drew great strength and support from her AA family as well.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Tammy.

Survivors include her daughter, Laurie (Matt Ferry) Allen of Minneapolis, MN; her sisters, Linda (Gene) Eilefson of Cloquet, MN; Sandra (Donnie) Watkins of Culver, MN; her brothers, Lars Ecklund of Cumberland, WI; Larry (Bev) Ecklund of Duluth; Tim (Colleen) Ecklund of Esko, MN; Ronnie Ecklund of Cumberland, WI; her longtime friend, Tom Allen of Two Harbors, MN; numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A gathering of friends and family will be held from 5-7 pm Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013 in the Dougherty Funeral Home Chapel. The gathering will continue Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 from 11:00 am until the 12:00 pm Memorial Service in the Dougherty Funeral Home Chapel, 600 E. 2nd Street, Duluth, MN.
