Lorraine Helen Hansen, of Duluth, MN, passed away on August 9th, 2024, at Viewcrest Health Center, three weeks shy of her 101st birthday.
Born on August 29th, 1923, to Frank and Bertha (Abrahamson) Pederson in Duluth, MN, Lorraine grew up in Pike Lake, and attended Proctor schools. Upon finishing school, Lorraine started working on the family farm. She then went on to work at 3M in Duluth until meeting her husband.
Lorraine met her husband, John, at The Western Bar in Duluth, and they got married on June 27th, 1953. They started their family at this time, raising their two children, Brad and Linda in Pike Lake.
Lorraine was a member of Pike Lake Presbyterian church and enjoyed crafting, gardening, sewing club, tending to her flower garden, and making homemade Christmas ornaments. In the summertime, you’d find Lorraine feeding the chipmunks, and she loved floating in the pool on a hot day with her daughter, Linda and friend, Kandi, where they’d have pizza and beer afterwards.
She always had her door open to whoever stopped by. During the morning and early afternoon, she always had a pot of coffee on with fresh baked goods waiting. If you made it later, she would have a cold beer instead of the coffee.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; siblings, Eleanor Abrahamson, Margaret Scott, Lois Peterson, Arelene Peterson, Betty Hofflin, and Howard Pederson.
She is survived by her two children, Brad (Beverly) Hansen and Linda Hansen; grandchildren, Amity (Jeremy) Bennett and Joshua (Amanda) Hansen; great-grandchildren, Ava and Nick Bennett, Waylon and Madison Hansen.
Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 19th from 5pm-8pm at the Pike Lake Golf Course and Event Center.
