Louise M. McAllister, 80, of Duluth, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at her home. Louise Marie Bjork was born Aug. 18, 1931, in Battle Lake, Minn., the daughter of Garfield and Ruth Marie (Murphy) Bjork. The family lived near Battle Lake until Louise was eight and then moved to Duluth. She attended Morgan Park High School graduating in 1949 and in 1953 graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a Bachelor of Science Degree in kindergarten and elementary education. She taught school for one year in Oshkosh, Wis., and returned to Duluth and taught at Lowell Elementary School. She married John Reynolds McAllister on June 26, 1954 at Elim Lutheran Church, Duluth. They made their home in Duluth where they raised their family. Louise was a charter member of St. Johns Free Lutheran Church and started the study and stitch group. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, knitting, pottery and ceramics, and arts and crafts projects for her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Louise is survived by her husband, John; daughters, Patricia Lisi of Minneapolis, Kathleen (John) Borge of Fargo, and Mary (Joel) Wilson of Lakeville; five grandchildren and a sister, LaVonne Cook of Sun City West, Ariz. VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012, in Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 East Second Street, Duluth and at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012, before the 11 a.m. Funeral Service in St. Johns Free Lutheran Church, 3601 West Arrowhead Road, Duluth.
