Lucille “Lou” R. Swanson, 92, of Duluth died Monday, February 27, 2017 at Essentia St. Mary’s with her family by her side. Lou was born May 29, 1924 in St. Boniface, Manitoba to Eugene and Marie Bourgeault. They moved to Duluth in 1939. She graduated from St. Jean’s School. Lou worked as a waitress for Gustafson’s, the Paul Bunyan and the Jolly Fisher. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Duluth Heights; volunteered at St. Ann’s and Chris Jensen; she enjoyed spending summer days with family at the French Club; listening or watching the Minnesota Twins and never missed a chance at attending her kids and grandchildren’s sports or school activities. Spending time with her family was what mattered to Lou the most.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Marie; siblings, Yvonne (Prosper) Cherro, Rene (Marcie) Bourgeault, Marcel (Mary Bourgeault brother in law, Gene Disch and daughter in law, Debbie Swanson.
Lou is survived by her sons, Robert (Janice) Bourgeault, Richard (Barb) Swanson and Jeff Swanson; grandchildren, Steven, Shawn, Trina, Stacey, Kevin and Cari; great grandchildren, Devin, Zachery, Ryan, Luke, Alex, Lila, Henry and Rosalie; siblings, Arthur (Margaret) Bourgeault and Eleanor Disch and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, March 3rd from 5-7pm in the Dougherty Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Saturday, March 4th from 10am to the 11am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s Church, 151 W Linden St. Duluth. Burial at Calvary Cemetery.
