Mabel Bruyere Lyon

Mabel Mary Bruyere Lyon, 84, of Virginia, Minn. died Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was born August 3, 1932 to Alice Jordain and Robert Adams in Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada. Mabel was very dedicated to her family. She took the bus daily to Eveleth to visit her daughter in a nursing home. She enjoyed playing bingo and traveling. Her family referred to her as ‘the gypsy’ with her monthly travels on the bus between Virginia and the Twin Cities.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Delbert; her children: Wanda, Glenn and Gail; her grandchildren: Jeff, Eddie and Carla; her brothers: Gordy, Percy, Aldan and her half-brother Lawrence; and her sisters Catherine and Lena.
Mabel is survived by her children: Darrell, Sharon, Roxann, Theresa, Mary, Delberta and John: her sister Gladys; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and loving friends; and special friends Judy and Jammela.
Family and friends may gather on Friday, February 24, 2017 from 10 am until the 11 am memorial service at Dougherty Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in Canada. If so desired, memorials may be directed to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Dallas, TX 75244
