Marcel Alfred Bourgeault, 86, of Hermantown, died Monday, December 1, 2014 at Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation in Duluth with his niece Jan Bourgeault by his side. He was born March 26, 1928 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada to Eugene and Marie (Beaulieu) Bourgeault. Marcel was a graduate of Denfeld High School. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II. Marcel had worked for the Assoc. American Railway, and retired from the Burlington Northern & Northern Pacific Railroad in 1986, after 39 years of service. He had lived in Minneapolis and Brainerd, Minn. for 31 years, prior to returning to Duluth in 1990. Marcel had served on the Govenor's Council for Developmental Disabilities and the Brainerd State Hospital Advisory Board. He helped organize Cerebral Palsy of Duluth, now U.C.P. He was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church and a former member of the West Duluth American Legion. Marcel was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Yvonne Cherro; his brother Rene Bourgeault; his wife Mary (Thome) Bourgeault in 1989; his son Mark E.; and an infant son Dean. He is survived by his sisters Eleanor Disch and Lucille Swanson, both of Hermantown; his brother Arthur E. (Margaret) of Richfield, Minn; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: 10 AM, Saturday, December 6, 2014 until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 5779 Seville Rd. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
