Marcella Beaupre

Marcella Beaupre, 95, of Duluth, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at Benedictine Health Center.Marcella Caskey was born March 17, 1916, in Duluth, the daughter of Steven and Stella (Miller) Caskey. She grew up and attended school in Duluth. She was employed by St. Mary?s Hospital, where she met her husband, Paul William Beaupre. They were married for 63 years until his death at age 93. Together they raised five children, instilling strong roots of Catholic faith and love of family. As members of St. Peter?s Catholic Parish, Marcella was active in the church and school. She served on the Parish Council, cared for the church linens, and served diligently in the Women?s Auxiliary and PTA for St. Peter?s Elementary School. It was there she became known for making homemade donuts and hot chocolate as First Friday treats for the students. According to her grandchildren, her homemade soups and breads could never be matched. Marcella was also a beautiful seamstress, and crocheted, knitted, and embroidered many treasured gifts for family and friends.In 1971, she became an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Society. She moved from volunteer to thrift store manager and then back to loyal volunteer until the store eventually closed. Marcella was a caring and compassionate person, and it showed in everything she did.She enjoyed reading and being read to Top on her list was her children, 15 grandchildren, and 13 (soon to be 14) great-grandchildren. They put the sparkle in her well-known, beautiful blue eyes.The family would like to thank the staff of Benedictine Health Center for their years of loving care of Marcella.Marcella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; grandson, Adam Sheda; three brothers, Joe, Chet, and Tom Caskey; and three sisters, Sr. Francesca Caskey, Margaret Caskey, and Irene Plucinak.She is survived by her children, Carol Beaupre of Duluth, Paulette(Tony) Sheda of Wrenshall, Tim (Ave) Beaupre of Hamel, Minn., Theresa (William) Kleczka of Duluth, and William (Jill) Beaupre of Maple Grove, Minn.; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.Visitation: 9 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, until the 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 325 E.
