Marcia Stephens passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 17, 2025 just days after celebrating her 90th birthday with family from across the country. Marcia was born in southern Michigan and lived many places including Florida, Arizona, Michigan and the last 40 years in Duluth, Minnesota. She was mother to five children: Patricia Loomis (Chuck) of Tucson AZ, Susan Brown (Mark) of Duluth MN, Nancy Camp (Doug) of Exeter, NH, Coral Stephens of Duluth MN, Francis Stephens (Kimberly) of Duluth MN. She had 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She and her husband Eugene were married for 35 years before his death in 1987. They bravely traveled with three of their children on their Chris Craft boat from Detroit to Florida in 1962. While living on the boat, daughter Coral was born. Later Marcia wrote and published her book of those travels entitled "Chart Your Own Course". Widowed in her 50's, Marcia completed the course work and became a licensed realtor here in Duluth. Marcia loved music and played the piano after dementia took other skills away. She also enjoyed writing and participated in a writer's group for many years-sharing and critiquing short stories with each other. She was active in her church serving at St. Michael's in Tucson and St. Paul's in Duluth.
Our mother and grandmother will be greatly missed. No one ever went hungry in her home and family celebrations gave her great joy. The family wishes to express their thanks for the love and care provided to Marcia by the staff of Beehive assisted living of Duluth.
Marcia's service is scheduled at St. Paul's Episcopal church of Duluth, on Friday January 24th at 11:00 am with visitation the hour preceding the service.
