Margaret Heide

Margaret E Heide, 78 of Duluth, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday September 7, 2017 after a courageous and honorable battle with cancer at St. Luke’s Hospital.  She was born October 30th, 1938 to Matie Valentine and Leo Fox in a family of 10 children in Burt, Iowa. Margaret spent her younger years as a nurse in Iowa City where she met Marvin R. Heide.  The two spent almost 60 adventurous years together. One of their greatest adventures was boating from Duluth all the way down to Cuba, Honduras, and back up to Fort Myers, Florida. Margaret and Marvin worked in the orthotics and prosthetics industry and started Northwestern Artificial Limb and Brace Company, Handicap Aids of Duluth, Heide’s Mastectomy Shop, and several other companies. Margaret had a passion for sewing and loved baking cookies, pies, and bread for family, friends, and neighbors.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, many siblings, and her beloved sons Kevin and Kimmer, and Kimmer’s wife Margie.

Margaret is survived by her loving husband: Marvin R. Heide, children Ken Heide, Kathy (Paul) Wrazidlo, grandchildren John (Melody) Heide, Jessica (Brian) Schmitz, Jill (Mitch) Routh, Julia (Paul) Rivard, Nicole Wrazidlo, Brooke Wrazidlo, Madison Heide, Gabriella Heide, and great grandchildren Heidi Schmitz, Hannah Rivard, and Elle Schmitz.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 13, 2017 from 10AM until the 11AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.  151 Linden St. Duluth, MN 55811.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.  Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home.  600 E. 2nd St., Duluth, MN 55805.  218-727-3555.
