Marguerite Doran

February 10, 1948 — March 24, 2021

Marguerite Noema Doran passed away of natural causes on 3/24/21 in Duluth. She was born on 2/10/48 in Wichita, KS to William H. and Marguerite C. Doran. Her parents moved the family to Duluth in 1954 where Marguerite spent the majority of her lifetime. She attended Stanbrook Hall High School and went on to study at the College of St. Scholastica (CSS). Marguerite then spent time living and working in Minneapolis and Denver before returning to Duluth to finish earning her B.A. from CSS after which she was accepted into the William Mitchell College of Law where she was awarded her J.D. in 1979 and was licensed to practice law by the state of Minnesota in 1980. She practiced briefly in the Twin Cities before relocating to Duluth when she joined the Newby Law Office in Cloquet. She later joined the Rudy Law Firm of Cloquet where she was a member for several years before leaving there to open her own law office and continuing in her role as the City Attorney for Moose Lake until her retirement in 2018.  Marguerite was a member of the American Bar Association, the Minnesota State Bar Association and the Eleventh District Bar Association.

Following a lengthy and fulfilling legal career Marguerite looked forward to  and was loving retired life. She was a gifted artist of many talents including  sketching, watercolors, quilting, writing, cooking and gardening. She also inherited her mother's love and passion for reading, collecting an eclectic library over the years. Throughout her lifetime Marguerite loved traveling, spending vacations in Jamaica, and sightseeing throughout the U.S. with a particular love for Colorado. She enjoyed sports of all types especially golfing every summer with Jessie, Corey and Don. She was an avid UMD hockey fan having been a season ticket holder for years and was thrilled to    celebrate their national championship in person in 2018.

Above all else Marguerite loved her family with a fierce devotion and was absolutely cherished by her family. She was an adoring daughter, loving sister and an amazing aunt. Affectionately known as "Marg and Margie" by  her nieces and nephews she was truly a second mom to Corey, Jess and Kacie guiding them through life with unconditional love, faith and laughter. Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brother Dennis (Karen) Doran, her sisters Anna (Don) Douglas and Camille Doran, nephews and nieces Jon and Tammy Doran, Michelle and Brian Majeski, Corey and Sherri Douglas, David and Sierra Doran, Jessica Douglas, and Kacie and Andy Leicher; great nephews and nieces Aly, Ben, Tyler, Olivia, Grace, Sedona, Acadia, Will, Lucy, Oliver and Austin; aunt Eleanor Malone and numerous Doran and Malone cousins.
