Marie M. Rollins, 100, of W 4th St. died Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Solvay Hospice House, with her family by her side. Marie was born December 16, 1914 in Duluth to August and Catherine Bonifaci. She graduated from Central High School and went to work as a PBX Operator at Barnes Shipping Bldg. and Northern Drug before she married Russell Rollins on April 19, 1952. After marrying Russell, Marie worked as a cook at Washington Jr. High.
She was a member of the former, St. Peter's Church; its Ladies Circle and served hundreds of funeral lunches at the church. Marie also was a member the Ladies Moose 580, Italian American Club Auxiliary, life member of the VFW Auxiliary 6320; was a foster grandparent for four years and a current member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Catherine; husband, Russell in 2011, her daughter, Jackie Owen in 2013, son in law, Michael Owen, who died this week and a grandson, Michael.
Marie is survived by her son, Anthony; grandsons, John, Scott and Tommy; several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4-6pm in the Dougherty Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Friday at 9am with Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 325 E 3rd St. Duluth. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
