MARILYN JEAN (JACQUES) DURAND, of Duluth.
In the early evening of September 19, 2013, Marilyn Jean Durand passed on to be with our Lord at the age of 85 years.
Marilyn was a loving mother who devoted her life to her two sons and to all her extended family and friends. Marilyn was known for her positive outlook, wit, warmth, energy and completely loving nature.
Marilyn made friends wherever she went.
Marilyn was born on March 14, 1928, in Duluth to Joseph L and Aurora G. Jacques. Marilyn married Robert F. (Mac) Durand of Duluth and they had two sons, Craig and Mike. Marilyn was widowed at age 34 but gracefully completed the upbringing of Craig and Mike by being an amazing and loving role model.
Marilyn was a lifelong resident of Duluth except for 18 months in Anchorage, Alaska and 6 years in Huntley, Illinois where she helped care for her great grandson Craig in his early years.
Marilyn loved to be active. She hiked and biked long distances regularly and went on some memorable family trips into the BWCA. She also was a talented gardener, creating beautiful landscapes of flowers and plants each year.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Robert, sisters Lorraine (Ralph) Butler, Lucille (John) Cadotte, Delores, and brother Robert Donald Jacques.
Marilyn is survived by her sons Craig (Fen) and Mike (Jo) Durand, brother Joseph F. Jacques, grandchildren Sonia (Todd) Graf, Jessica, Ryan, Grace (Zach) Orrie, Rachel, and Gabrielle, six great grandchildren, loving nieces and nephews and special friends Pat Kuehnow and Ginger (Bill) Byrd, and Les and Pat Graf.
Marilyn was a loving mother, grandparent, aunt and friend of many and will be missed more than words can express.
Marilyn you laughed, loved, lived fully and all through life your sweetness stayed.
