Marjorie Eklund

May 21, 1920 — October 6, 2017

Marjorie May Eklund, 97, passed away on Friday October 6, 2017 in the Benedictine Health Care Center, rejoining her husband Floyd.  She was born in Duluth on May 21, 1920 to Knute and Ruth Boren.  Marge graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1938, and attended Duluth Business University.  She married Floyd W. Eklund in 1943 in Lakeview Covenant Church.  Marge was an active member of Lakeview Covenant Church and a charter member, Grant School PTA and was a Cub Scout Den Mother for Several years, and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church.  She was a stay at home mom and raised her three sons attended all their sporting events and school activities, and those of her grandchildren.  Marge was nominated for Duluth’s Hall of Fame in 1987.  The family wishes to give a special thanks to the staff at Benedictine Health Care Center, and Essentia Hospice.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 58 years Floyd, and a brother Gerald Boren.

She is survived by her children Marshall (Sue) of Burnsville, Brian, and David (Betty) both of Duluth, sister-in-law Harriet Eklund, niece Marsha, grandchildren Eric (Amy), Peter (Kelly Ann), Kristin (Bob), Adam (Anna), Aaron (Heather) and Derek (Amy), 10 great-grandchildren, and her special friend Kathy Anderson.

Visitation will be held on Friday October 13, 2017 from 10AM until the 11AM Funeral Service in Emmanuel Baptist Church.  1515 Eklund Ave., Duluth, MN 55811.  Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery.  Memorials are preferred to Emmanuel Baptist Church.  Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home.  600 E. 2nd St. Duluth, MN 55805.  218-727-3555.
