Martha Franckowiak

Martha Ann Franckowiak, age 88, of Duluth, died Saturday, March 17, 2012 at home. A lifelong Duluth resident, she was born May 29, 1923 to Thomas and Mary (Forstynowicz) Luczak. Martha was a member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church where she was actively involved, volunteering wherever needed. She was a 50 year volunteer at St. Mary?s Medical Center and voted the volunteer of the year. Martha was a 2011 nominee for the Port Town Women of the Year. A people person, Martha truely loved and cared for everyone. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter, her brothers Stanley, Anthony and Chester Luczak, and her sister Francis Bubacz. Martha is survived by her daughter Barbara (Phil) Hegfors of Ely; her son Robert (Debra) Franckowiak of Duluth; three grandchildren: Phillip (Stacy) Hegfors of Ely, Rob (Sarah Hejny) Franckowiak and Ryan Franckowiak, both of Duluth; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 21st. from 9 AM until the 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Burial will be at Polish Catholic Cemetery.
