Mary Chepelnik

Mary Elizabeth Chepelnik, 89, of Duluth, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday March 14, 2018.  She was born in Duluth on February 22, 1929 to Anton and Sofia (Zdunich) Rubin. Mary graduated from Morgan Park High School.  She was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, Slovenian Women’s Union Branch #33, and the Gary New Duluth Senior Citizen’s Club.  Mary enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, she loved her children and grandchildren very much.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert, sister Ann Leland, brothers John Rubin and Nick Galatz, and a son-in-law Dave Severson.

She is survived by her children Al (Kathy) of Duluth, Mary Beth Severson of St. Paul, and Steve (Cheryl) of Superior, grandchildren Jim, Maria, Christina, Jake, Holly, and Emily, great-grandchildren Ella, Maren, Addi, David, Kayla, and Juliana, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday March 19, 2018 from 10AM until the 11AM Mass of Christian Burial, with a 10AM Rosary Recitation by the Slovenian Women’s Union in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.  610 99th Ave. West, Duluth, MN 55808.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Superior.  Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home. 600 E. 2nd St. Duluth, MN 55805.  218-727-3555.
