Mary Louise Claus, 86, of Hermantown, died February 9, 2014, at Essentia Health in Duluth, Minnesota, with her family by her side. She was born in Duluth, MN, to Ceasar and Adrienne Amys on February 12, 1927, and attended and graduated from Hermantown School in 1945. Mary married Dale Claus on September 24, 1955, and was a lifelong resident of Hermantown.
Mary had worked at Gallagher's; she was a charter member of St. Raphael's Church in Pike Lake. She enjoyed golfing and bowling; she was known for her cooking, especially her Butter Horn Rolls and Chop Suey, but most of all, Mary loved spending time with her family.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Ceasar and Adrienne Amys, and brother, Robert Amys.
She is survived by her, husband. Dale; children Kevin (Cindy) Claus of Hermantown, Karen (David) Tracey of Cape Coral, Florida, Lori (David) Nelson of Duluth, and seven grandchildren, Kyle (Dawn) Claus, Jason (Nicole) Tracey, Justin Tracey, Tammy Tracey, Lindsey Peterson, Levi Bordes, Jessica (Tom) Garrett, and nine great grandchildren; sister, Julie (Ralph) Carlson of Virginia, MN; many nieces and nephews, and dear friend Debbie (Scott) Massie.
Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved being with family and friends. She will be missed dearly by everyone whose lives she touched.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7pm with Wake Prayers at 6:30pm in the Dougherty Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Thursday from 10am to the 11am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Raphael's Church, 5779 Seville Rd. in Pike Lake. Burial at Sunrise Memorial Park.
