Mary Lou Duvivier, 88, of Duluth, formerly of Tempe, AZ, passed away on Tuesday July 29, 2014 in Benedictine Health Center. She was born in Virginia, MN on July 20, 1926 to Lee and Mary Louise McKenzie. Mary taught High School English at McKlintock High School, Tempe, AZ, until her retirement. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Tempe, AZ, and belonged to the Assistance League of East Valley, which provided school supplies, backpacks, and clothing to needy children heading back to school. Mary and her husband were world travelers, they summered in Northern Minnesota for many years, and Northern Minnesota was never far from her heart. She loved blueberries, was a talented quilter and seamstress, and Mary had a great life.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marc, brother John McKenzie, sisters Patricia McKenzie, and Katherine Griffiths.
Mary is survived by her brother James (Esther) McKenzie of Hoyt Lakes, MN, brother-in-law Bryan Griffiths, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday August 2, 2014 from 10AM until the 11AM Mass of Christian Burial in the Benedictine Health Center Chapel. Entombment in St. Francis Cemetery, Phoenix, AZ.
