Mary Laumeyer

Mary Louise Laumeyer (Kelzenberg), 69, of Duluth, passed away with family at her side on Saturday January 20, 2018 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.  She was born on August 12, 1948 to Clarence and Dorothy (Cipperly) Kelzenberg in N.E. Minneapolis.  Mary graduated Summa Cum Laude from St. Scholastica with a Master’s Degree in Gerontology and B.S. in Dietetics.  She was a graduate of Edison High School in Minneapolis and an alumna of St. Anthony High School in NE Minneapolis.

Mary worked for the City of Duluth, Viewcrest Nursing Home, and Mercy Hospital in Moose Lake as well as volunteered in many settings.   Mary was a very active member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, and before that, at St. Michael's Church and Sacred Heart Church.  She enjoyed many pastimes including fishing, cooking, quilting and gardening.   Mary was dedicated to her family and considering nurturing them in mind, body and spirit to be her first vocation.

Mary's faith in God was her greatest treasure to herself and to those around her.  As the wife of a Catholic Ordained Deacon, she was active in Marriage Encounter, Cursillo, many prayer groups, and a member of the Brothers and Sisters of Charity.  Mary was a light unto literally thousands of people.  Her life is a profound inspiration to her family; she was a rock to her family, friends and those who knew her, a gentle leader who was thoughtful and generous to those in need.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Daniel Kelzenberg.

Mary is survived by her husband of 49 years Richard "Dick", children Chris (Joy) and Kelly (Rob) Dehn, 3 grandsons, and 3 granddaughters, brothers Jim, John, Kevin, Mick, and Bruce, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday Feb. 2, 2018 from 5PM to 7PM with a 6PM rosary recitation, and 6:30PM wake prayers in Dougherty Funeral Home, visitation will continue Saturday February 3, 2018 from 9:30AM until the 10:30AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church.  Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.  Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home.  600 E. 2nd St. Duluth, MN 55805. 218-727-3555.
