Mary Lawrence, a beacon of love, service, and community spirit, passed away peacefully at the age of 100. Born in 1924, Mary spent her lifetime spreading kindness and warmth to all she met, leaving an indelible mark on the world around her.
Mary was a devoted member of her beloved Saint George Serbian Orthodox Church, where she poured her heart into various activities and services. She actively participated in the choir, the Sister Circle, and was a faithful parishioner. Her unwavering faith and dedication provided comfort and inspiration to many, and her presence will be deeply missed by her church family.
Mary also took great pride in her involvement with American Legion Post 71, where she supported veterans and their families with passion and grace. Her commitment to helping others has left a lasting legacy of goodwill and compassion.
Her laughter, wisdom, and generosity will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege to meet her. Her life is a testament to the strength of community, the importance of faith, and the power of love.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Cindy Lawrence (Dave Martin) and Sondra Lawrence (John Mason), her beloved granddaughter, Keesha Mason (Ahti Hujanen), and her two great-grandchildren, Kaisa Maya and Alden Mason, who always brought a smile to her face. Her legacy will be cherished through her friendships and the countless lives she touched profoundly.
Visitation will occur on Friday, December 20th, 2024, from 5pm-8pm at Dougherty Funeral Home (600 E. 2nd St. Duluth, MN, 55805), with Pomen starting at 6:30pm and will resume at 10am on Saturday, December 21st at St. Geroge Church. A celebration of Mary's extraordinary life will be held at her cherished St. George Serbian Orthodox Church at 11am, where friends and family will gather to honor this incredible woman. Luncheon to follow burial. If you wish to make a donation, the family requests that donations be made in Mary's name to American Legion Post 71 and Saint George Serbian Orthodox Church.
She lived not just to exist but to serve, love, and uplift. Mary Lawrence’s 100 years may have ended, but her influence and spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved dearly.
