Matthew S. Nelson, age 33, of Esko, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Essentia St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.
Matthew was born January 16, 1979 in Racine, Wisconsin, the son of Steve (Stavros) and Karen Kalliope (Geokas) Nelson. He worked as a Farrier for several years.
He was a member of Twelve Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, Duluth. He loved working with animals. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, cooking, and was an avid Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune fan. His greatest joy was studying and discussing Comparative Theology. He loved his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers and a grandmother.
Matthew is survived by his parents, Steven (Stavros) & Karen Nelson of Esko, sisters, Kimberly (Matthew) Dyke of Kissimmee, FL, and Sara (Judd) Johnson of Duluth, his grandmother, Christina Harris of Sun City, AZ and godfather, David Harris of Sun City, AZ and special aunt, "Auntie Susie".
Visitation: 5pm Wednesday, October 3, 2012 until the 7pm Trisagion Service at Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 East Second Street, Duluth. Funeral Services 11am, Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Twelve Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, 632 East Second Street, Duluth. Burial at Forest Hill Cemetery.
