Merchon Barry

Merchon Linton Barry, age 73, of Pike Lake passed away on May 14, 2013 at her home on Pike Lake.

Merchon Linton LaJoy was born June 15, 1939 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Millard and Ferris (Linton) LaJoy. She married Henry "Murph" Barry on August 22, 1964 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Duluth.

Merchon taught elementary education for the Duluth Public Schools.
She was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church, where she served as treasure for many years. She was also a member of St. Theresa's Circle. Merchon valued her family very much and enjoyed spending time with them. She loved to travel and was an avid reader and skier.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ferris.

Merchon is survived by her husband of 49 years, Henry "Murph", her family, Jody (Ken) Haggy and Jody's children, Adam, Elizabeth, and James Haggy, father, Millard LaJoy, brother, Hartley (Sally) LaJoy, sister-in-law, Marietta Bourne, nieces and nephews, , Matthew (Angela) LaJoy, Hartley Clarke "Skip" (Heidi) LaJoy, Barbara Ann (Steve) DeFusco, Tommy (Marci) Bourne, Patty (John) Lea, Kathy (Sam) Bourne Arlia, and John (Judy) Bourne.

Visitation: 5 to 7 pm, Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 East Second Street, Duluth and will continue Tuesday, May 17, 2013 from 10 am until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, 5779 Seville Road, Pike Lake, Minnesota.
