Michael Bianchet

Michael P. Bianchet, 58, died Saturday, April 16, 2016 at St. Luke's after a short illness with his family by his side. Mike was born March 28, 1958 in Duluth to Patrick and Jane Bianchet and was a Duluth East graduate. He married his high school sweetheart, Cathy Walker, on August 14, 1982 in Duluth. Mike worked for 32 years in the maintenance department at St. Luke's. He was an active member and trustee of Lake Superior Masonic Lodge where many members and guests enjoyed his outstanding cooking. Mike served on the Duluth Amateur Hockey Association board and coached his children in soccer, softball, baseball and hockey. Mike was a tireless worker until the very end. He enjoyed spending time at the cabin on Long Lake, hunting, fishing, golfing, shooting sporting clays, and cooking. Most of all, Mike loved spending time with his family and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Jane.
Mike is survived by his wife, Cathy; daughter, Sarah; son, Joe (Chassie, fiance`); siblings, Jill Bianchet and Jody (Gary) Vonasek; niece (who he considered granddaughter), Molly Vonasek; father and mother in law, George and Nina Walker; sister in laws, Colleen (Jerry) Wallis, Wendy (Mike) Wells and Jill (Tim) Lekatz; many nieces, nephews and a host of truly great life-long friends. He will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Luke's ICU and Drs. Boylan and Long, for their excellent care and compassion for Mike and his family.
Visitation will be Friday from 5-7pm in the Dougherty Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Saturday from 10am to the 11am services at Clearwater Grille and Event Center, 5135 North Shore Drive, Duluth, MN.
